"Red Cloud 2" 13 x 19 in.

In this illlustration, Red Cloud (Mahpiua Luta) looks across to the left, to a time when his people lived in peace and harmony with the land. When the animals, birds and fish were many and the Earth was healthy. The black hills (bottom right) carry his heart above - while the lines in the mountains signify scars of industrialization and of those who claimed "ownership".
This portrait is in tribute to the speech Red Cloud gave in 1866, at a council in Fort Laramie, Wyoming, regarding his people's rights and hunting grounds.
