This piece goes with Mountain Spirit Day, and each celebrates one of my favorite artists, Madeline Bohanon. She was my water color instructor throughout college, and one of her styles and abilities is to paint with a very controlled brush; creating fine curves and the sharpest of angles. One of her subjects for painting is mountains which is why I decided to use them as my subject. I tried to express through line and by color, a mountains power. The circular sun helps with the movement as well as the symbology of power and spirit. I chose certain tonal values to adjust for the "night" version.
