This illustration was originally done as a gift, for a young woman — a dancer, who lost her leg due to cancer. Her story was told in the local newspaper. Upon reading it, I felt inspired to create an illustration for her. Her words describing how dancing makes her feel, served as the Spirit of the piece. In the scene, the dancer is dancing on a live stage, with the Earth and Sky as the background. A slim crescent-moon sits adjacent to the planet Venus; two feminine symbols of strength and love.
